Verrus and P3 Launch First Pay by Phone Service for Taxi Fares in Canada
Customers can conveniently pay for taxi fares using their mobile phones

Customers now have a fast, secure payment alternative, perfect for when they’re short on cash or want to pay by credit card. For cab companies, they can now instantly support credit card payments and limit overhead traditionally associated with corporate account handling. Trials of this new service launch today in three Canadian cities – Grande Prairie, AB, Barrie, ON, and Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

To pay for a fare by phone, passengers follow 3 easy steps:
1) Call the Verrus number specified on the in-taxi signage.
2) Enter the vendor number for that particular taxi, also on the signage.
3) Enter the total fare amount.
Within a few seconds, the taxi driver will receive notification on his mobile phone that the customer has paid and confirming the total amount collected.
It’s recommended users sign up for a free Verrus account in advance at www.verrus.com or they can register during their first call into the Verrus system. The registration is quick and easy and associates a mobile phone number with a designated credit card all protected by a secure, 4-digit PIN. At any time, the user can log into their account at the Verrus Web site to view and print transaction histories, including both parking and fare-related payments. One Verrus pay by phone account is good for both applications wherever Verrus is available.
Availability
Over the coming months, the Verrus pay by phone taxi fare service will expand to additional North American cities and will shortly include corporate account support allowing companies to have a central billing Verrus account for multiple employees.
